Subject: notes William Cazzell Sr. part 2
Hi Dave,
Notes Cont.
Pike County, KY 1829 William Casteel married Nancy Runyon December 29,
1829, daughter of Henry Runyon, William Casteel signed the bond. (This
record is for William Cazzell Jr.)
After Sept 1828 William Sr. and Judith probably left Floyd/Pike Area, not
on
1830 Floyd or Pike census. But on 1830 census William Cazzell Jr.
and
wife
Nancy Runyon are still in Pike Co. (newly weds living next door to
her Dad
Henry Runyon as William Castile, also next door to Reuben Matthews family.
Bozwell and Collinsworth etc. there also. Henry Runyons wife was Hannah
Collins they lived on Ponds Creek, Pike Co. KY
There is a Joseph Casteell on the 1830 Greenup Co, KY census. We believe
this is the son of William Sr., living in his house is a male born circa
1770-1780 and a female born circa 1800-1810. This could very well be
William
Sr. and Judith Cazzell.
1834 April 7th, Greenup, KY Peggy Castiel married Henry Sweeney, bondsman
was James Mathews (James Matthews her brother-in-law, reference says she
is
the daughter of William Castiel.) Need more info on her but have
added
her
as a possible daughter of William Cazzell Sr.
1836, Jan 6 - Greenup Co, KY Deed Book F, page 457
John and Mary Young sold Judith Cazell 50 acres in Greenup Co on Brush
Creek
Fork of East Fork of Little Sandy River. This deed mentions again
that
they
are near James Matthews. Witnesses to this deed are William Ferguson
and
Wm
F. Marty.
1838 Joseph Cazzell (son of William Sr.) marries Laurana Womas in Greenup,
KY. Joseph and Laurana are both buried in Dalton, MO.
1838 Aug, 28 John Henry Cazzell (son of William Sr.) marries Almyra Jane
Wamsley in Greenup, KY. Almyra is the daughter of Uriah Wamsley and Jane
Campbell.
Just a note here William Cazzell Jr. had a daughter Julia Ann born in Ohio
1835 but by 1837 he is in Greenup, KY as is William Sr. and Judith, sons
John
and Joseph and James and Nancy Matthews. (I saw somewhere that
Elizabeth
Lewis was named Elizabeth Betsy Lewis. Interesting to note that William
Cazzell Jr. names a daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Jane Cazzell born Oct 1837
in
Greenup, KY) William Jr. doesn't leave KY when some of them do,
but stays
around the Runyon family.
Tax records show most of them in Greenup, KY recorded as Casteel or
Cazzell
into the 1850's.
I'm almost finished, I have just a few more recs I'd like to send to you.
Hope these will be helpful somehow! Marsha
