The only one that sounds familiar to me is John Casteel. My line is as
follows:
John Casteel, Sr. ( Va. ) married Elizabeth ?
James Casteel ( KY) married Sarah( Sallie) Hale
Simpson Casteel/Steele (KY) married Arminta Adkins
Charles E. Casteel/Steele (KY) married Ludy A. Robinson ( Robertson)
Charles K. Steele ( Wayne Co., WV) married Dorothy Burns ( my parents)
There was a very interesting article written about Indian John Casteel in
Elliott Co., Ky. in the 1930/1940's.
It was published in the Big Sandy News. This John Casteel is buried in the
Sparks Co., Cemetery in Elliott Co. I've always wondered about the Casteel
name, is certainly doesn't sound " Indian" and many of our
family are blonde/red hair and blue eyed. Some think it to be Castilian
Spanish, bit that doesn't sound right to me either. There are many Casteel's in
Tennessee who spell their names Castile........ Of all of the genealogy I've
done with both sides of my family, the Casteel name is as elusive as it ever
was!
