The name Edmund du Chastel was there. Not the samsame as Capt. Edmund obviously...but I
thought it quite interesting that the name was the same. there are other du chastels in
other books around the reign of Edward II. I just googled the name and reviewed a few
pages of the results. Google has a bunch of really old books on line.
I also found interesting the de Castello. Both are possible variants for the Casteel name
and in 1300's England.
Both have patents...I think these are like land grants. They are not what we think of as
patents. But I need to leaarn more.
There are bunches of English and French nobles with the surname
de or du Chastel de la Howardrie also.
With all these connections one would think I could find my Samuel Casteel!!!!

Elizabeth, did you actually find Edmund du Chastel in that book?
I found several Edmunds with other surnames and a few du Chastel with other
given names.
1300 was long before our Capt.
