He Darlene, I am interested in contacting the publisher and will do so. Did
she give you any idea how much the reprinted issue would cost us?

Subject: Book - Casteel Family Research
Some of you may be more familiar than I with this subject, but bear
with
me.
Several years ago one Jean Casteel Brown wrote a book entitled "Casteel
Family Research". She spent many years on the project, and the book is
approximately 500 pages +/-. She made no effort to trace or associate
any particular family line, but the book contains a gold mine of
research information. The author passed away 3-4 years ago.
I've tried everything I can think of to locate a copy I could purchase,
but have been unsuccessful. The other day I contacted the company that
published the book and inquired as to whether or not they had access to
the manuscript so they could reprint the book, and how much potential
purchase interest would be required before they would expend the
resources needed to publish the book again.
I received a reply from Fredrea Cook at The Gregath Publishing Co.
They are very interested in re-printing Jean Brown's book, but will not
do so without permission from her heirs. Apparently the Publishing Co.
is prohibited from contacting them directly, and efforts to make
contact through mutual acquaintances have met with no response. Ms.
Cook stated that if there were enough interest, perhaps they could get a
response.
Maybe a deluge of mail in support of reprinting the book would provide
the impetus needed to obtain permission from the heirs. Wouldn't hurt
to try. The company's e-mail address is: gregath(a)galstar.com
