The next record of Roberts son, Robert T Castile shows James to be his uncle. This verifys
Barney to be his father or else it is a very close coincidence. I am continueing to check
up on this. I am asking for help in proving or disproving relation to Robert being the son
of Barney Casteel. My Castiles show Casteel to be thier name on a earlier census.
Robert Casteel was Born in Tenn, Served in Civil war.
Had blue green eyes, lived with the Ogle 1850 United States Federal Census. He was a boy
at that time so I am wondering what happened to his family.

It may be important to note the naming patterns here. This is off of a 1850 GA census.
They moved around alot. I can't say for sure these are our folks but it does provide a
good lead.Robert Castile married Emiline Ogle in Joachim Township, Jefferson County MO.
not sure of the year.
(Census info) On 8 June, 1880 in Rock, Jefferson County, Missouri: Robert Castile age 35,
(born 12/9/1844 in Tennessee) He served in the civil war (TN) and his
wife Emiline Ogle age 32,(born in Mo.) had
Sophie I. age 11,
Robert T. age 9,
Charles E. age 6.
The Census for 1890 was destroyed in a fire, so that leaves a gap, but in the Census taken
7 June 1900 in St. Louis, Missouri are: Robert Castile, born Mar 1870, married for 8
years to Lizzie, born Aug 1874 in Illinois. Her parents were from Germany.
They had Ella, born Aug 1893,
Allen, born July 1896, and
Irene, born Nov 1898.
On January 6, 1920 Allen Castile was listed in St Louis, age 24, a Fireman Locomotive.
His first of three marriages (he had married two more times and never told of his first
marriage that was to Adeline Abert of age 25, from Marine Illinois (father from Germany
but mother from Missouri) )
They had son Allen, age 3yrs 9months, and
daughter Adele 1yr 10months.

1900 Missouri Census Desoto City, Jefferson County MO.
Shows Robert Castile born 12/1844 owner of Confectionary Store, both parents born in TN.
Wife Emaline Mar 1848 both parents born in Mo. This is a little confusing as earlier
census dates show the Ogles in TN. I wonder if she had not known this? Shows them married
for 36 years, she is the mother of 6 children, with only 3 living at that time (1900).
However an 1880 Rock Township, Jefferson County census of Robert and Emilina show her
parents as one being born in MO. and another in KY. Sophie, Robert and Charles are all
show father being born in TN and mom in MO.

There are records on my Castiles in Desoto, Ironton, Ill., High Ridge, Fredericktown and
yes St. Louis.
Emiline Ogle born 3/19/1847 (my grgrgr grandmother) was the daughter of Thomas and Mary
Ogle who were on the Jefferson County Census back in 1860.
Robert Castile b. 12/09/1844 in Hamilton County TN
Robert H. Castile born 12/09/1844, Hamiliton county TN (this date is on the document but
doesn't make sense as
Died 1/27/1910 St Louis City Hospital of Pneumonia

Children: (info filled in by Emiline Ogle Castile) Sophia Belle born 9/13/1868, Robert
Thomas born 3/14/1871, Charles Edward Born 1/27/1874.
Two affidavits were completed by Castiles, The first one dated 1895 was from a Jas. R.
Castile who was 37 and had known Robert H. Castile for 25 years, the other dated 1895 was
from William R. Castile age 48 who said he knew Robert from boyhood. They were both from
DESOTO. However they did not state their relationships.
Another note about Emiline Ogle, she is on the 1860 Jefferson County Census,
Here is that information:
Father Thomas Ogle b. 1819
Mother Mary? Ogle b. 1821 siblings?
Sarah A. Born 1845
Mary b. 1853
James Daniels b. 1838
Senati Mashew b. 1837 (I don't know what kind of name that is)
Charles Thomas b. 1835
Emiline b. 1847
This guy was one of Roberts witnesses on an affidavit and it said that he was raised by
Emilines father, so the story checks as far as being raised by the Ogles.
So that is my information! Any cousins out there? I found a cousin who had not believed
me regarding the first marraige of my Allen Castile until I sent him census, birth,
marriage certificates. I understand you can't be too careful. I am still hunting for
more cousins out there!
I had a census with Robert Castile on it, and he had a Meshach living with him-- he was
much older. I didn't realize it could be a relation. I have been trying to find that
census sheet everywhere but I am afraid I lost it. I can't remember if it was from Ill
or Mo.
Does anyone have that?
Blessings to all cousins out there,
Colleen
