If someone has access to 1934-40's newspapers (or inmate records), I
would like to request a look-up. I subscribe to
NewspaperARCHIVE.com
and have found one short article and would like more information if
there is any out there.
This is the article:
Kokomo Tribune May 29, 1940
State Briefs
Michigan City, Ind., May 29 - (AP)
William CASTEEL, inmate who walked away from state prison's Summit
honor farm last Sept. 4, has been captured in Houston, Tex. Sentenced
in 1934 from Allen county to three to 10 years for burglary, he had
been granted a conditional parole but it had not become effective
before he disappeared.

This is probably the same William CASTEEL in Michigan City (LaPorte)
Indiana
WWII Draft Card
William H. CASTEEL (50) b: 27 Nov 1891 Meyersdale, PA
(The Indiana State Prison is in Michigan City and he may have been
there or out on parole.)
I'd appreciate any information that you can find.
William was my grandmother's brother.
Thank you.
