Hello all you Castile Cousins out there. A "cousin" has found me! Last year
or the year before a site was given to order civil war photo's from. I
found what regiment my grgrgreat grandfather Robert Castile served in
My grandfather Thomas R. Castile Sr. married Etta Jackson who
coincidentally had a whole bunch of family in the Salem Missouri area.
Here are some updates for you.
Charles E. Castile was born on 1/28/1876 and died 7/12/1937. He is buried
in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. He had a wife named Percy M.
King(Castile) born 6/3/1882 and died 4/24/1949, also buried in Memorial
Gardens, I believe she was born in Irondale, MO. They had four kids named
Walter Edward Castile, Thomas R. Castile(My grandfather), Edna Alma Castile
and Percy Blanch Castile. According to some notes from my deceased
grandmother I believe they were all born in Irondale MO. I have birth and
death dates on most of them also.
My grandfather Thomas Rolla Castile Sr. (son of Robert H. Castile born 1845
bn in Tn and Emiline Ogle born Mo.) was also buried there but my father
Thomas Rolla Castile Jr. was buried in Jefferson Barracks cemetery in St.
Louis. I have a brother Thomas Rolla Castile the third. Not much left of
the old family tree going this direction.
An interesting note about Walter Edward Castile was that he went by Walter
Caselle his whole life and was married to a Mardelle Boeckelman and had a
daughter Marlene. He is the only one with a grave marker and he actually
spelled his name wrong.
As you probably gathered from my first email, Emiline's maiden name was
Ogle and Robert's middle initial was H. I noticed you didn't have them on
the web site.
There appears to be some different spellings of Robert H. Castile in the
Service records. They had it Castile on the Civil War pension but Casteel
on other records. I think I have also seen Castele a couple of places. I am
hoping to clarify this with you and the link back to Tennessee. I know he
(Robert H. Castile) was in the 47th Missouri Infantry Company E. in the
Civil War.
Any help out there?
