CASTEEL, Ella Elizabeth Thrasher, 93, of Roanoke, went to be with the
Lord
Saturday, February 22, 2003. She was a longtime member of Grandin Court
Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was also active in
volunteer work through the church. Her husband, Ralph Lee Casteel, her
parents James W. and Pearl Crush Thrasher, three brothers, James, Alonza
and
Garnett Thrasher, two sisters Alma Day and Eunice Kesler, preceded
her in
death. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jimmy
Hunziker of Hardy, Carolyn and Jim Wynne of Moneta; four grandchildren,
Beth
Burke and husband Ron, Jason Hobbie and wife Claire, Laura Hobbie,
Danny
Wynne and wife Wendy; two great-grandchildren, Whitney and Zachary Burke;
two brothers, Jay Thrasher of Boone, N.C., Richard Thrasher of Orlando,
Fla.
and one sister, Winnie Bussey of Roanoke and several much loved
nieces and
nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Raleigh Court Health Care
with special thanks to Pat Lockett for her thoughtfulness and loving care
of
Ella. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at
Oakey's
Vinton
Chapel with the Rev. Robert Hamner and Rev. Carol Johnston
officiating.
Entombment will follow at Fern Cliff Abbey in Evergreen Burial Park. The
family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the
funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Good
Samaritan
