Dave, it's been a while since I've looked at your Casteel
site - the
following caught my eye.
In the Land Records section:
North Carolina Grants in Tennessee:
Andrew Casteel, 1849, Wayne County, Tennessee.
Daniel Casteel, 1812, Knox County, Tennessee.
Daniel Casteel, 1824, Sullivan County, Tennessee.
Daniel Casteel, 1837, Green County, Tennessee.
Edmund Casteel, 1803 Blount County, Tennessee.
Eli Casteel, heirs of, 1849, Benton County, Tennessee.
Elijah Casteel, 1824, Knox County, Tennessee.
Francis, Casteel, 1808, Knox County, Tennessee.
Francis, Casteel, 1825, Knox County, Tennessee.
Henry Casteel, 1849, Wayne County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1787 Greene County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1808 Blount County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1822 Knox County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1823 Bedford County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1825 Bedford County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1825 Blount County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1826 Blount County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1831 Bedford County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1831 Bedfored County,Tennessee.
John Casteel, 1837 Greene County,Tennessee.
John Caststeel, 1826 Bedford County,Tennessee.
Joseph Casteel, 1810 Blount County,Tennessee.
Meshick Casteel, 1810 Knox County,Tennessee.
Rebecca Casteel, 1832 Knox County,Tennessee.
Richard Casteel, 1849 Jackson County,Tennessee.
Shadrick Casteel, 1808? Knox County,Tennessee.
William M Casteel, 1842 OCDEE District (what is OCDEE? Anyone know?)
Early on, when the Casteel Rootsweb Maillist was formed, I thought I had
posted the following re the William M. Casteel - I could be wrong,
though. Anyway, the OCDEE Dist. is actually the Ocoee Dist, which is the
land in the Hamilton/Bradley Co. area of TN that was originally the
Cherokee Nation. The Ocoee Dist was the land that was sold at the time
of the Cherokee Removal.
Tract #4984
Casteel, William H.
40 acres
General Entry
R2W T3
Section: #8-NWcSWq
Dated: 5 Feb 1842
Paid: .12+
This would be the next section over from where my Stover family received
land. So this could most likely be in Bradley Co., TN.
