Yes, and although we do have to compare conflicting information, and
determine which is more likely to be accurate. I'm not sure that is what
most researchers consider cross referencing. My comments earlier dealt with
going to the earliest source of a specific fact and trying to determine how
reliable it is. There is a great deal of difference in secondary and
primary sources of information. Secondary is just that, second-handed. And
even primary documents can have errors. As for being 100% sure of any fact,
I've learned to reserve at least 2% for possible error!

Such as the birth dates death dates where they lived or passed, so
one had
information on a great uncle of mine and I kept thinking it could or could
not be him but after contacting them and getting some of the dates I KNEW
was not correct fixed it ended up he was the right person in the other
person's tree................
Back in 1993 I came in contact with a man who was 100% sure that my great
grandmother was married and all her kids belonged to the same man, NO so
when I informed him that she NEVER married and one of her kids belonged to
another man he said he wished who ever had originally put the information
out would have to put in the infor that this woman never married like I
did.
Does that make since?? Theresa
