The various papers of William Penn are scattered quite a bit. Here is a
list of the major repositories which contain some of his material:
In the UK:
Bedforshire and Luton Archives and Records Service (correspondence & papers)
Surrey History Centre (correspondence w/ Lord Somers, 1694 - 1709)
British Library (misc papers)
In the USA:
Historical Society of Pennsylvania (correspondence & papers)
Maryland Historical Society (misc papers)
American Philosophical Society Library (correspondence & papers)
Haverford College (letters & papers, 1668 - 1704)
Religious Society of Friends Library (misc letters & other material)
Furthermore, much of this material has been published in a 5 volume set
titled: The Papers of William Penn, eds. M.M. Dunn & R.S. Dunn.
(University of Pennsylvania Press, 1981 - 1987).
Cheers,
Eric

Edmond Du Castle/Chastel is reported by several secondary sources to
have taken the oath of allegiance from the proprietor William Penn in Philadelphia on
Sept. 10, 1683. Where exactly would a person find the original document???
Thanks, Marge
