I must agree with Mary's well-taken points. If I state information that is
incorrect, I want to know it is incorrect. Genealogy will never become
scholarly unless incorrect information is corrected. It is not difficult to
do this in a civil manner, i.e., addressing the point(s) with which there is
disagreement rather than being accusatory or abusive to the person who,
usually unknowingly, posts it. Every "tale" or piece of incorrect information
has a genealogy of it's own that, in this age of rapid and widespread
communication, is often as difficult to trace to its source as it is to trace
our ancestors.
