Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the parents of Anna CASTLE, who married Simon SIRON on
11 July 1734 in Christ Church in Philadelphia. I've seen the "Cassel"
name sometimes spelled as "Castle", so I wonder if Anna could have been
from one of the several German Cassel families who arrived in
Pennsylvania between 1686 and 1727. But from what few references I've
seen on the various Cassel families, the only possibility I can see is
that she might have been the daughter of Peter, who was a son of
Johannes Cassel (1639-1691). Does anyone have a complete list of the
descendants of the German CASSELs?
Alternatively, maybe the name is English and is indeed spelled CASTLE.
That might explain why they were married in Christ Church instead of a
Lutheran or Mennonite church. However, I haven't found anyone named
CASTLE in the Philadelphia area during this time period.
Evidently Anna was buried in the Upper Germantown Burying Ground in
1762.
I welcome all comments, ideas, and suggestions.
