Subject: Re: [CASSIL-L] {not a subscriber} Castle's Woods
I found your story about Castle'swoods and Jacob Cassel very interesting.
Although this man is not my ancestor, I have two Cassel lines, not related,
and so am interested in any Cassels that might be related to one of them. I
have seen other tales about this Jacob, as early as 1738 in various parts of
Virginia. Did the article mention that he was an albino and the Indians
thought he was sort of a god ?. He also was supposed to have an Indian wife. I
don't have time to look for it now but there is another story of him and his
family getting caught in a flood at the home of a neighbor. They climbed to
the roof and the cabin floated down the river and several fell off and were
drowned. He supposedly had a son Bazle who was in the Rev. war.I would be
interested in any more information on this man. Some have tried to connect
him with the Yellis Cassel family from Kreigsheim. I have never seen any
evidence of this. Would be happy to hear from anyone doing research on this
family who has documented evidence as to his parentage. Mary Cassel Case
