Hi Bobbi,
Thanks for the response to my message. It is appreciated in these
frustrating times. I really don't have enough info to help clarify your
issue. Agreed,it is suspicious and there may be a link . . . like Jacob and
Salome are perhaps siblings. For sure they are at least cousins. The name
John(Johannes) Cassel hasn't yet fit into my research except to note that
a Johannes was one of three Cassel brothers to immigrate from Germany in
the late 1600's-early 1700's. The other two being ,I think, Yelles or
Julius and Hupert. I have found Cassel families in PA . . . in
Chester,Montgomery, and Lancaster Co's. and even a Jacob Cassel in 1830 in
Frederick Co.,MD and a Jacob Cassel in1840 in Carrol Co.,MD but once again
I haven't yet been able to establish that ever elusive link to my Jacob and
Sophia Cassel.
Sorry that I haven't been very helpful but your mentioning a John Cassel
and Salome gives me another avenue to travel. Who knows? Perhaps our
traffic will elicit some responses from others on this list. Good luck,
happy hunting and Cheers.

Your Cassel connection looks suspiciously close to mine (see below),
particularly as Salome's family spent some years in Washington Co,
Maryland. Do you have enough data to clarify this possibility further. I
have not been successful in finding much information about Salome's birth
family.
