bc>Where did you get the death date for Benjamin CASSELS of 1801.
From the book "A History of Grady county Georgia by Yvonne Miller
BRUNTON, dated 1979. I have a note that some sources (you) have
the 8 Nov 1798 death date.
bc>I have a copy of page 6 from a Three Rivers Chronicle newsletter,
bc>prepared by William H. Chandler, which says that Benjamin CASSELS,
bc>son of Henry CASELS and Margaret MITCHELL, died 8 Nov 1798. I have
bc>no idea where that date came from either.
bc>I am interested in Benjamin because I suspect he may be the father
bc>of my great, great, great grandfather, Henry CASSELS, born 1772.
bc>It's only a suspicion based on the fact that my Henry and his wife
bc>Agnes Gamble lived in the same area (Sumter County, SC), they named
bc>their first son Benjamin (b 1805, perhaps in honor of Henry's
bc>father), and a Henry CASSELS is identified as "son of Benjamin" on
bc>a grant of 150 acres in Sumter District in March 1801.
I've repeated your entire message so the persons I'm carbon copying
can possibly jump in and help us.
What is the grant of 150 acres for/from. It could be that Mrs.
BRUNTON meant to say before 1801. Just a thought.
bc>Looking for any help I can get; Bill CASSELS
