I'm researching a group photograph from the Great War. One of the men in the
photograph was Hugh Kennedy Cassels and I have the following information
about him and his family:
Father: Walter Ritchie Cassels (born circa 1847 in Oporto Portugal, died 10
December 1915)
Mother: Elvina Eusebia Trillia of Montevideo (born circa 1846)
and their family was as follows:
- Walter Trillia Cassels (born 6 Jul 1873 in Rio Janiero)
- Robert Wilberforce Cassels (born 5 Jan 1875 in Rio Janiero)
- Elvina Luza Cassels (born 7 Sep 1876 in Oporto, died 6 Dec 1920 in London)
- John Herbert Cassels (born 29 Nov 1879 in Rio Janiero)
- Ethelinda Ruby Cassels (born 18 May 1881 in Rio Janiero, married Mr
Manning pre 1916)
- Frank Lionel Cassels (born 15 Oct 1882 in Buenos Aires, killed on the
Somme 20 Jul 1916)
- Jessie Nina Cassels (born 4 Sep 1884, married Mr Dashwood pre 1916)
- Bertha Grace Cassels (born 24 Mar 1887, firstly married to Mr Harris who
was killed in the First World War, secondly married in 1924 to Eric Donald
Gannon (1899-1964))
- Elisa Nellie Cassels (born 2 Dec 1889 in London)
- Hugh Kennedy Cassels (born 12 Feb 1894 in Buenos Aires, killed at Loos 25
Sep 1915)
- Alfred Gilbert Cassels (born 15 Mar 1899, married Clarissa Motion
(c1899-1996))
*******************************
I have spoken to Alfred Gilbert Cassels' son, but due to his branch losing
contact with the rest, he has very little knowledge of the family history.
I would love to hear from anyone who has any ideas of how I might find out
further information or reach any other descendants of this family
