OBITUARY
Seymour Cassill was born in Vinton Co., Ohio, on May 3, 1863, and passed away at a
hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on August 26, 1930, at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 24
days.
When a child, his father, Martin Cassill, settled in Davis Co., Iowa, where the
deceased grew to manhood. On Feb. 11, 1891, at Hedrick, Iowa, he was united in marriage to
Amanda Caroline Ludham, and to this union 5 children were born.
The Cassill family moved to their present home in Lincoln township (Cass Co., IA) in
1902, where Mr. Cassill made for himself a host of friends for he was a man of sterling
worth, who ranked high in the community because of his straight forward dealings. His
death is sincerly mourned by all.
He is survived by his widow, 5 children and 5 grandchildren. The children are Mrs.
Maud Coble of Tacoma, Washington; Loid Cassill at home; Mrs. Mable Cryer of Morris,
Illinois; Marion Cassill, of Anita; and Mrs. Ilie Cohagan of Zanesville, Ohio. The
grandchildren are Hazel, Betty, Marjorie, Bonnie Lee and Russell Dale. He also leaves to
mourn his death 2 brothers and 1 sister, Walter Cassill of Bloomfield, Iowa, Martin
Cassill who lives in Oregon, and Mrs. Alonzo Miller of Villisca, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Baptist church
in Massena township, and were conducted by Rev. Edward L. Bellows, pastor of the Anita
M.E. church. Music for the funeral was furnished by Mrs. G.M. Adair, Mrs. H.E. Campbell,
A.B. Stone and Guy Rasmussen, with Mrs. H.O. Stone acompaning. Interment was made in the
Massena Center cemetery.
