Chris, re your message, I am directing my reply to the Cassidy Mail List in
case another lister can help. I cannot be of much help, I'm afraid. I am
unaware of any of my Cassidys going to Wisconsin/Iowa. Also, so far I have
not found a Patrick among my ancestor's names. I tend to think that Patrick
is an Irish Catholic name, but not always of course. To the best of my
knowledge, all my Cassidys started out as Presbyterians, but some may well
have changed the church followed after marriage. Good luck. Jack Cassidy

Jack,
On reading the following . . . .
my gggrandfather James Cassidy, who

A thought occurred to me: perhaps I can make progress on my Patrick
Cassidy
if I explore any Cassidys coming in through Canada, then down
through
Wisconsin. You aware of any pattern along these lines?
My research has focused on Wood County, Wisconsin, 1840s-1900. A Patrick
Cassidy was apparently through there, marrying one of my
HERRONs--Catherine
to be exact. I later placed them in Hardin County Iowa about 1900.
But
beyond the above . . . nothing. I suspect Patrick was born 1835-1845
range.
Any possibiity of a lead would be appreciated,
Christopher Melahn
