Hi all,
As many of you may remember I have been working on identifying my CASSIDY line for a
number of years now. Jeremiah Alexander Cassidy b. 1809 Virginia d. approx 1900 and is
said to be buried in Virginia at the Hunting Creek Church at Mount Vernon. ( I have not
yet found him.) The two references I have for this Jeremiah (James) relating to Virginia
are for Halifax County and Fairfax county. (Birth and burial) I still have no knowledge of
who his parents or possible siblings were.
During his lifetime Jeremiah/James lived in Morristown, Tennessee. He married Martha
Matilda Jackson and they had six children. Massillon Alexander, Eva, Frank
Bourdelau/Birdlow, Eugene Hurbert, Alice and Nora I believe. He was said to have been an
educator. He fought in the Civil War. As did many of Martha's brothers. (Her family
lines were JACKSON, BATCHELOR, MABRY and COX)
My line comes down through Frank. In the biography of his son Eugene it stated that his
"Great Great Grandfather, Jeremiah ANDREW Cassidy fought in the revolution and lived
to the unbelievably great age of 127 years."
Until this week I had no other family born information on this line. I received a letter
from my aunt this week stating...."Three Cassidy brothers came to this country before
the Revolution. One went North, one went South and one went West. My father told me
this."
Her father was the same man who the earlier bio mention was written about, my grandfather,
Eugene Herbert Cassidy, b. 1889 TX, d. 1968 CA.
Thought I should share her comment with you all in case it rings a bell with anyone else.
