Hi fellow Cassidys,
I'm planning a trip to Ireland (from the
United States) this summer to do a little family research. I thought I
would drop you a note to see if you and assist me in my preparations.
Or at least point me in the right direction.
My earliest known ancestor in Ireland is Andrew Cassidy (1788-1868) from
Dunkineely, Kilaghtee Parish. He married Margaret Clarke (1783-1871) in 1805 and they
emigrated to St-Antoine-Abbe, Quebec, Canada in 1816. I
believe they had two children, Edward and Thomas (both born in 1806).
I'm hoping to trace my ancestry further back and/or locate where Andrew and Margaret
may have lived in and around Dunkineely. Does anyone have any data that references either
Andrew or Margaret? I understand that records dating back to the
18th and early 19th century are somewhat difficult to find. Any help
you can provide is greatly appreciated.
