Cassidy List: Re: Kentucky Cassidys,
Yesterday I posted a list of Cassidys found in the Locust Grove Cemetery in
Laurel County Kentucky. Unfortunately I posted all the information that I
have regarding that cemetery and the listings. I hired a local man in London,
Kentucky (a community near the cemetery) who among other things, sent me this
information. I only asked for a listing of any Cassidy's buried at this
cemetery. (Someone on another List had mentioned that there were some
Cassidy's buried there.) Not having any idea of who these people might be or
how many there were, I did not ask for additional information on each person,
such as dates of death, etc. That would have been out of my price range. I
simply wanted to see if anyone sounded familiar. Trying to get an indication
if there happened to be family in the area of the Sue Bennett Memorial School
that my grandfather EH Cassidy attended. To go from Texas to Kentucky to High
School or for a trade and back to Texas before 1910 was quite a journey it
seemed to me.
Regarding the numbers listed beside peoples names, the sheets I received do
not indicate what the numbers are. I presume they are plots.
In typing them up and submitting them to the group I tried to provide what I
had in case they might be of use to someone else. I'm so sorry I don't have
more information than this. I have also been asked if I have an address for
the cemetery and I don't other than the general location I posted with the
names. Also for those requesting lookups at the cemetery or in Laurel County
- would love to but.....I'm in the State of Washington and fresh out of
vacation/travel time. :-)
