Helen,
Read your Cassady family and the names you have mirror my line from
Rockbridge Co. VA.
This line is from Neil Casady/Casidy and his son Peter Casady. Peter
married Mary McCLUNG. They had 12 children:
Alexander Addison
John
James
George Washington
Samuel
? son(possibly David)
Rebecca
Mary
Nancy
3 girls still unknown
What surprised me was the George Washington Cassady who was in IL.
My George Washington moved around IL from about 1818 on. Was in
Woodford, McLean, Vermilion, Will. Seemed to invest in land. On 1850
census he had land valued at $40.000. In 1860 he states he is a
speculator and had land valued at $75,000 and was living in Joliet, Will
Co. IL.
Somewhere these lines must meet, but where I don't know. Working on
those I know of Peter and Mary. Peter Casady died in 1804 and his wife
Mary left Rockbridge in 1813, took the family to Paris, KY then
Cynthiana in Harrison Co., KY. Stayed there about 5 years and then they
moved to Livonia, Washington Co. IN a Presbyterian settlement.
I have picked up other Cassadys in IL and IN and some must be part of
your family. My line started using the spelling Casseday and two
brothers settled in Louisville, KY by 1820.
Will keep yours in mind in my searches and see if any connection shows
up.
