Hi Shirley,
I had maintained contact with Wm David Cassity of Chicago, but he never
told me of another man from Chicago that had done research from the
Fermanagh end. Wm David did send me some information on the Cornelius
Cassidy of Pennslyvania. I believe at first he thought this Cornelius
might be the same as the Neil Cassity he had found in the Augusta
County, VA records. Neil being the father of your Peter.
Yes, Wm David upset me, but we debated the issue for some time and in
the end he agreed that our ancestor Peter Cassity of the Tygart's River
Valley of Virginia, was not your Peter.
I'm not sure, however, if he ever changed his mind about our Peter being
descended from the Cassidy line in the Clogher register, but Brent
Cassidy told me that the genealogist for the Official Cassidy Clan felt
it was "unlikely."

Hi Janet,
Has been sometime since I last heard from her. She was really upset
by the
research of a Cassity in Chicago some years ago. This man has since
died.
I think he was on the right track. I wrote him and he sent me most of
his
material and name of another man he worked with. Neither man had a
computer. The man in Chicago had made a trip to Fermanagh and
researched
the Cassidy family from there. He said that one son was a catholic
priest
and set to be hung. A brother was able to whisk the priest away and
both
set sale for America. He believed the Cornelius was the expriest, he
married and moved on to Pennsylvania. Who his brother was is unknown,
but
we know some Cassidys were in Henrico Co. VA early. He thought some
of
these children started using the spelling Cassity and carried same
names as
those from Cornelius line, Peter, James, John. and moved on to
Pocahontas
County, that was in West Virginia. I know Linda and I was trying to
separate the two Peter Cassadys found in some of the early records,
one
disappears and surfaces in Pocahontas and the other remained in
Rockbridge.
Linda's line is from West Virginia. In looking back just wish our
ancestors
would have found different names for their children. At least the
Peter in
my line did not name any of his sons Peter, but did carry on the John
and
James.
Going to have to see if I can locate the man that was helping the
Chicago
Cassity.
Shirley
