Well, I'm still here, too! Always looking for any info on Michael Cassidy
(c.1840-1898), son of John and Anne Cassidy, and Margaret Hinds (or Hynes) (1835- ?) from
Longwood, County Meath. They had one son, Christopher, born in Ireland c.1861, and
possibly another, Thomas, who may have been born there also; They emigrated to Kingston,
NY, c.1870, where they later had two daughters, Mary and Anne. Christopher married Mary
Elizabeth Engelhart (1864-1953); Mary married Clarence Lamphere; Anne Married Frank
Scully; and Thomas disappeared off the edge of the earth. He's listed as part of the
family unit in the 1880 census, but the name "Cassidy" is misspelled as
"Cassiday" or "Cassidey". I guess a record is only as good as the
person writing it down.
Michael died in Kingston in 1898. His widow, Margaret, apparently moved in with daughter
Anne and the Scully family, then also disappears from the record c.1910. Kingston Vital
Records has no record of her death. Any information regarding Michael and Margaret, and
their "lost" son, Thomas, will be gratefully received.
