Hello everyone.
My ancestor, Patrick Cassidy, was supposedly at Mount St. Mary's College,
Emmitsburg MD for a while in the early 1840s. In trying to find a record of
his employment there I corresponded with the archivist. She sent me a copy of
letters which mention various Cassidys. Unfortunately for me, none were mine.
However there were mentions of a few Cassidys that I thought I would pass on
to the list.
There is a letter from Rev McCaffrey, (the President of Mount St. Mary's),
dated 15 Dec 1848, to Rev. John McCloskey of NY which mentions a Clinton
CASSIDY, calling him "a fine young man,".
There is a letter dated 18 Dec 1880 from a Lewis C. CASSIDY, Attorney at Law,
221 South Sixth Street, Philadelphia PA, asking permission for his son Hugh to
come home for Christmas.
A letter from James A, CASSIDY 15 Nov 1871 at the bishop's residence in
Wheeling WVA concerning him getting into seminary.
Also a letter from Rev. Peter CASSIDY. S.J. of St. Peter's College, Jersey
City, NJ to Rev. McCaffrey dated 7 Oct 1889.
Hope something here helps someone!
Slainte.
Janet
