From reading the list there seems to be alot of Cassidys [various
spellings] from the south [US south].
Mine came to Brooklyn about 1869 and didnt leave Brooklyn until after 1940
- some are still in the orginal neighborhood.
I have two gr gr aunts that vanish on me. A Catherine Cassidy [b 1859] and
Susan Cassidy [b 1864]. A have a family story that one went on to
Australia. I dont know how she could affrod the family was very poor.
I am wondering if people on the list would post when their first family
arrives, where they land and what religion the believe this family to have
been. I have been surprised by how many Cassidys arrive pre-famine and how
many arrived in the south of the US. I have slowly gotten interested in
history [I'm essentially a techie].
My Cassidys are Catholic. Arriving 1869 into Brooklyn, which is why I've
always tried to find other Cassidys in Brooklyn related because though
Brooklyn is close to NYC in 1870 was a separate city so I assume they knew
someone in Brooklyn.
