I have traced my mother's (Mary Cassidy) ancestry back to a John
Cassidy, born 1768, location unknown who married a Lady(?) Elizabeth
Mackie, born 1771 in Scotland. Some time around 1789, they emigrated to
Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada, where they had 3 sons: James, born 1793;
William, born 1796; and John, born Dec. 07, 1797.
John, Sr died in 1808, place unknown, and his wife Elizabeth in 1850, in
Scotland. His son, John, Jr moved to New Brunswick, Canada. He married
Mary Anderson, born in Pictou on May 24,1808, and after moving to New
Brunswick, had 10 children - James Anderson, Mary Anderson, Martha,
Mary, Elizabeth, Andrew, Ellen, John W., Margaret Jane, and William
Anderson.
I have been unable to trace either John, Sr or Elizabeth Mackie back to
the Old Country, and I have been unsuccessful at finding any trace of
their other 2 children. Any help would be immensely appreciated.
