Hi All:
I am looking for connections to two James Cassidys of Co Fermanagh, both
teachers. James (1) b 1796 in Aghakeerin (parish of Devenish). James (2)
was born in 1835, died 1921 in Rosslea, Co Fermanagh . There is a Catherine
McManus, but not sure whether she is the wife of the elder James Cassidy or
the younger.
James (2) was a teacher in Greoghaverrin National School 1860 - 1890 and is
credited with introducing gaelic into National Schools. Tradition has it
that all the children who attended this school went on to become civil
servants.
It would appear that James had 3 brothers who went to the U.S., one of
whom remembered the family at home in his will early in the 1900s. I do
not know yet their names, but Patrick, Thomas, James, and Philip seems to
most common in this family.
Do these names sound familiar to anyone, and does anyone know of a Cassidy
brother who remembered a family back in Fermanagh in his will?
