For folks interested in Johns Cassidy, & I have lots more. I'm still looking
for James & Sarah, whose son Robert was b. 1775, supposedly in Loudoun Co.,
VA. Anne Cassidy:
VIRGINIA & W. VIRGINIA
A smattering of Cassidys, mostly Johns for you.
Because one old note said Robert CASSIDY was born in Loudoun Co., VA a good
deal of searching went on in VA. It was organized in 1757 from Fairfax (org.
1742), from Prince William org 1731 from Stafford, Westmoreland: All
originally from Northumberland, which was org. 1645... If Robert was b.
there, his father must not have been HOH [but a bondservant would not be
listed separately] & must have moved on before 1810.
¶ Before 1771, Wash. Co., PA was a part of Cumberland County, 1771-73,
Bedford, 1773-81 Westmoreland. in 1781, Washington Co. included all of PA
south of the Ohio & west of the Monongahela. In addition, Virginia held
courts 1775-80. There is a 1781 state tax list in PA Archives.
