G'day
I am searching for Charles Cassidy b.abt.1818 in Liverpool England married
Mary Ann Brown b.abt.1826 Londonderry, Ireland, they were married 1849
Sydney Australia.
Very likely that Charles Cassidy was Transported on 'John Barry' 1839 for
life for the offence of Burglary. The indent says he could read and write,
was Roman Catholic, Single and a watchmaker. He was tried at Lancaster in
the Liverpool Quarter Session, 9 April, 1838. He had no previous
convictions. At the moment I am trying to follow any leads that would give
me a definite yes or no as to whether this is my gggrandfather or not. As
for his wife Mary Ann Brown, there were many, many Mary Ann Brown's born in
Londonderry around that time. I have not been able to locate their
marriage record as yet, my next course of action there will be to email the
N.S.W. archives for information.
Happy Hunting
