My gggrandfather, James Cassidy, arrived in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1788/1789 with
his brother John Cassidy. The brothers married Martha and Margaret Turnbull, daughters of
Thomas Turnbull and Jane MacKay, in Pictou during the 1790's, and settled on
McLennan's Brook. I have very good information on Jame's descendants after his
arrival in Pictou, and I AM SEEKING INFORMATION ON LOCATING JAME'S FAMILY AND
ANCESTORS IN IRELAND.The Cassidys sailed from Scotland with other Pictou settlers,
apparently principally from Dunfries. I do not have the name of the ship. Also, I do not
know how long the Cassidys were in Scotland or if they just travelled there from Ireland
to catch the ship. They were of Presbyterian faith and probably from Ulster. Any
information and/or suggestions on locating Jame's family in Ireland would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you in advance for all responses. Jack Cassidy
