It was me, Doris. I got the info from the archivist of the Jesuits (Maryland

Janet is right! There has been little activity on the Cassidy site lately. I am a relative newcomer to the mail list, but the one message I placed re my gggrandfather James Cassidy, who arrived Pictou Nova Scotia, 1788/89 and married Martha Turnbull about 1795 (no record of this marriage found yet) resulted in 3 very useful responses. I have good info on this James, his wife Martha Turnbull, their son James (my ggrandfather), and my direct Cassidy ancestors from that time. Howerver, James and Martha had 11 children, all born in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and I have varying amounts of information on them. My plan is to place what I have on the site and hope it is useful to other Cassidy descendants, and will result in some feed back that will be useful to me as well. So here goes.
The second son of James Cassidy and Martha Turnbull was John Cassidy, born 1798-1800, in Pictou. Until recently, I believed this John married Mary Anderson (of Anderson's Mountain, Pictou) and relocated to Burnt Church, New Brunswick where they raised a large family, and where many of their descendants still live. However, inputs from descendants of John and Mary of Burnt Church have convinced me that my relative is not the Pictou born John Cassidy who relocated to Burnt Church. Thus, I have no knowledge of what happened to Jame's and Martha's son John. Perhaps someone out there does. Any responses to the mail list? More on other children of James and Martha Cassidy later. Jack Cassidy
On the Cassidy Clan website is a short paragraph about Patrick Cassidy, a Jesuit brother, including sibling's names and immigration information. Georgetown University was given as the source of these records. Some of the sibling's names and the timeframe are just what I'm looking for, so I wrote to the GU Library. They were wonderfully cooperative and prompt in answering, but THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THESE RECORDS.
Does anyone have any idea who posted this information? and how I can access it? Patrick Cassidy was, indeed, a Jesuit brother who worked in Georgetown, but there is no information in their records about siblings, immigration, etc. Hope someone can help me.

Hey out there--OK--WAKE UP!! I guess you were all asleep because traffic on
the list has been so slow of late. You can't sit back and wait for your
ancestors to find you (unless you believe in ghosts), can you? They're all
dead, right? So if you want to find them, YOU have to do the work.
AND when you see something of interest, it is OK to answer to the list. This
is a small list (compared to some) and it is ok here to share your searching
with everyone, as long as it is realated to genealogy. (If you establish a
connection and get to the point of sharing Aunt Tillie's recipe for kumquat
mashed potatoes, okay, then its time to take it to private email.).
So get those shovels out and start digging up your dead Cassidys!
Good luck,
Janet
