For Pete and Linda,
Don't forget the spelling CASSIDAY. When my Cassiday moved North to
Canada, they changed the spelling to Cassidy. Only found them by having a
little luck.
Have fun 'rooting....

I could have found my family information so much sooner had I been wise to the
many variations of Cassidy spellings!
My Cassidy family's name has been found spelled Cassada, Casada, Cassady,
Cassaday, Casity, as well as Cassidy. Now I know to check from Cas... on!
Census records, tombstones, pension applications, birth records were all
spelled differently for the same line!
This is one of the things that makes genealogying fun--solving the puzzle.

"Cassidy" (this is the only spelling I know of!), or in Irish, "O Casaide"
Since I've arrived in the US, I've discovered Cassidys, Casadys, Cassitys,
Casidys ... 8-)

Interested in hearing from anyone with any information on William Hutchens and
his wife, Elizabeth Cassidy, who were in Canada (Toronto) by 1863 when their
daughter, Catherine, was born. There were also at least two siblings - Maria
and James. The family was RC. Catherine was married to my GGUncle,

Hello Patricia and Hello Michael,
My GGrandparents are Peter Conlan (5 May 1850 - 1919) and Ellen Cassidy
(~1850s - 1923). They were married in Co. Monaghan in ~1870/1 and their
first child was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1872. I strongly
suspect that they were married in, or near, Drumod as Peter's best friend
(in the USA) was from Drumod.
Peter had arrived in Cambridge, MA in 1864 as a minor, lived with a number
of other Conlans who were already here, and returned to Ireland marry Ellen
Cassidy, returning once again to Cambridge MA following the marriage. There
were a large number of Conlans in Cambridge, all working as laborers or
engineers in a soapmaking company or for the railroad and all living on the
same streets in Cambridge. The men were named John, Edward, Samuel,
Michael, Peter, and Simon. The streets they lived on were Winsor, Columbia,
and Webster which are all very close to each other as are the addresses
where they worked on 206 Broadway and on Cambridge Street.
Peter's parents were John Conlan and Mary Daley and Ellen's parents were
Frank Cassidy and Elizabeth McKenna. The Cassidy's are also related to the
Farmers of County Monaghan through the marriage of Ellen's sister to a
Farmer. The Farmers also came to live in Cambridge, MA.
If there is any possible link I'd love to learn of it and if any additional
data is needed please let me know.
Best regards,
Frank
