Daniel (B1822) m Rebecca Steven
Lucinda (B1824) m Thomas Eaton
Peter (B6-23-1826) m Nancy A. Hinds
Please contact me if anybody has a connection. Thanks Susan
My first Cassidy is only as far back as South Carolina.
Benjamin Cassidy (b~1784) m Barbary BRYANT (~1785 poss. VA) are my
g-g-g-grandparents.
I had a fellow research say that Benjamin was born on the ship from Ireland
but I have never received any documentation. He didn't tell me the names of
his parents. He also said the Cassidys traveled by covered wagon to their
new home in South Carolina.
Benjamin and Barbary are first found in the 1810 Chesterfield Co. SC census.
Most of their children left SC and moved to Alabama. Their daughter Charity
was my g-g-grandmother. She married Richardson CLANTON.
Thanks,
Jane

My first Cassidy ancestor in America was my GGGG Grandfather, Patrick,
born in 1738, and whose home was in Newry. He came to America in 1755,
and we believe, but so far cannot substantiate, that he may have been
with Braddock"s Army and may have been present at Fort Duquesne. He
became a surveyor, platted the town of Hollidaysburg, PA, founded the
village of Newry, PA, and fought in the American revolution. We're
quite proud of him!

This is the only Cassidy that I have in my files. There are some
cassidy's listed on my genealogy site in a couple of the submitted
gedcoms. The address to get to this site is:
http://www.familyworkings.com and the genealogy page is available in
Frames and noframes in case you would like to see if any of those are a
match.
Any help would be great!

Hi everyone,
My first Cassiday in North America was David Cassiday, believed to have
been born in 1767 somewhere in Co. Antrim. He probably sailed from
Londonderry with 2 brothers in 1788 and settled for a short time in
Virginia.
David moved on to Washington Co. Pa. where he married Rachel Meek (Aug.
21, 1777 - July 21, 1845). By 1802 they were living in Ohio. David died
Oct. 17, 1844 in Blachleyville, Wayne Co. Ohio.
I have some information further, but absolutely nothing for the time
prior to the above, nor do I know the names of David's brothers or
parents.

McCloskey, Of Ireland, probably Derry area. Issac's sister was Sarah Cassidy
m. Thomas Maginnis of Eglinton, Faughanvale, Co. Derry.

Hi everyone,
Things on the list have been very slow. Hopefully it is because everyone is
deep in microfilm, doing research! I think it is time for everyone to repost
some info. Remember. we have many new members (though they are quiet ones) who
may not have seen your info the last time you posted it. Sooooo---
Would you please post the name and dates of
your (first) immigrant Cassidy/Cassiday, etc ancestor. If you know the date
of immigration and the place in Ireland where he/she originated, please
include that as specifically as possible.
For instance, Co. Donegal, or even
better: Co. Donegal near Ballyshannon.
(If you are not sure of a fact, please say "probably." If you know only
"Ireland" say that.)
I'd like to organize the info somehow, for future reference. Also it would be
interesting to see what parts of the ould sod our ancestors were from.
To start the ball rolling myself:
Patrick Cassidy c. 1804--1894, b. near Derrygonnelly, Co. Fermanagh, Ireland,
emigrated about 1841, settled WashDC.
Thanks,
Janet Cassidy-Stroh (listowner)
Sorry to post this to the list. But I just received a packet for a book on
THE DANKWORTH'S OF THE CIVIL WAR. The return address: U. S. Information
Bureau-NUMA - 3220 N ST NW STE 1400 - Washington DC 20078-3365. It
says that a Sharon Taylor is awaiting your reply. That's odd, this is the
same name of the person that was awaiting my reply a few years ago when I
bought a book from Halbert's in Bath, Ohio. It was JUNK then and would be
now. BUYER BEWARE
P.S. If you get anything from an address in Colorado. ( FAMILY NEW NETWORK -
1181 S PARKER RD #102 - DENVER, CO 80231 ) BUYER BEWARE it is also JUNK.
