Hi All,
Hope this is usable information regarding my Cassidy search. It is in the
infancy stage but I have high hopes!
I am Christine Cassidy-Schutz, born 1950 in Santa Barbara, CA, daughter of
Eugene Herbert Cassidy Jr., born 1924 in Hanford, CA, son of
Eugene Herbert Cassidy Sr., born 1889 in Dennison or Windom, Texas, son of
Frank Birdlow Cassidy, born ?, in Morristown, Tenn (mother, name unknown, died
when he was 12 and he was given to a farming family who were passing through
with the promise that they would educate him in trade for farm work. (Didn't
happen.) I was told that he had a number of siblings. I do not know any names.
Was also told that they were educated by the time the mother died. Old stories
talk of a teacher/professor and a minister.
Hope these limited facts fit in with some of you. The search is fun but
finding family would be super.
Thanks, Chris

Thanks for telling everyone! That's a nice new resource.

Tony,
You can see the descendants of the three brothers you mentioned from
the 1790 VA census at my website http://www.gendex.com/users/LC49/madkat/ .
I don't have a Lewis listed for them or their other brothers, or any Lewis
Cassidy anywhere down the line.

So far I have Nancy Cassidy b. N. C. 1798, dau. of Lewis & Sarah Cassidy.
The 1790 census of N.C. has no Cassidy's! But 1790 Va. has 3 listed:
JOHN - Peter Jr. - David, could one of these be the father of Lewis
Cassidy?
In 1821 Nancy wed William Short in Grainger Co. Tenn. Also in April of 1827
a Frances Casady wed Joseph Purkey, could they be sisters?
I don't have anything on the whereabouts of Lewis Cassidy.
Nancy & husband William Short went into Knox Co. Ky. by 1830's.
Since I'm new to the Cassidy research, is this name English, Scots or
Irish?
Any help appreciated.

Well, folks, there are now 79 people subscribed to this newsgroup, the
majority (61) of you subscribing in list mode.
But where are your messages? Are you all waiting for the other guy to post
something? Why not post something of your own, some info about an ancestor
that you know a little about, and some questions about another that you would
like more info on! This way, maybe you will catch the eye of someone
searching the same line.
There are a lot of us Cassidys (and all those other spellings of course) out
there. Some of us must be related to others of us!
In future weeks I plan to copy out and post to the list, CASSIDY baptisms
from the registers of the RC parish of Devinish in Co. Fermanagh. I am also
planning to do the same for references to CASSIDY in the records of the
Emigrant Savings Bank of NYC. These bank records provide some detailed
information about account holders, including place of residence in Ireland and
names of relatives.
Hope to be inundated with postings from all you CASSIDY subscribers!

Well, this new-subscribed Cassidy is kinda busy right now! I'm working
on some details of my family history, which I'll post to the group soon.
Some short details;
I'm from Dublin, Ireland. I moved to California last November.
My father's family are from The Liberties, in Dublin.
There's a whole bunch of Cassidys in Birmingham (England, not
Alabama! 8-) ) whom I'm related to. They moved over in the 50's.

Tommy Cassidy (died in 1968)

Patrick Cassidy (my dad. He's still around!)

Need information/help finding this family. I have Nancy Cassity
born apx. 1798 N. C. daughter of Lewis and Sarah Cassity.
Yet I find no Cassidy/Cassity in 1790 N.C. but there are just
3 listed in 1790 Va. John, Peter Jr. & David Cassity, I find
no Cassity/Cassidy in 1760 Va. Any clues appreciated.
Nancy Cassity wed in May 1821 in Grainger Co. Tenn.
William "Billie" Short, a saddler & shoemaker, they went
on into Owsley Co. Ky. by 1850's. Thanks!
Kathy....
Looking for the parents of Sampson Cassady b. 1829 Ind. I thing they came
from
Del. or Va. He married a Malissa Still. b. 1832 Connersville , Ind.
Thanks.
My grandmother Catherine Cassidy (1865-1927) from Crossmaglen,Armagh
had three brothers Jeremiah,Thomas and Peter. I am in the process of
finding out what happened to them. I do not know who went to Newcastle
upon Tyne, England when she migrated or who may have come to the US.
Nancy
My husband's grandmother ws Cecilia Cassidy born February 10, 1900 in
Hazelwood (Glenwillard), PA, married to Arthur Littler June 27, 1917, and she
died August 11, 1972. Cecilia's parents were William Cassidy, born 1859
Ireland and he died 1926 in PA. He was married to Margaret McKee of Glasgow,
Scotland born Feb 23, 1869. I am interested in any information regarding
William Cassidy and his family. I do not know where in Ireland he was from.
Thanks.
My husband, Phillip Cassidy is seeking any information available on the
following Cassidy family of Northern Ireland;-
His great grandfather was from Lisnaskea in Co Fermanagh. He went to
Clontibret in Co Monaghan to work as a flax scutcher, where he died in
1939 aged 69 years. His wife was Kate, who died in 1960 aged 86 years.
We understand she was from Clontibret.
His grandfather John Cassidy and wife Mary McNally emigrated to
Australia in 1925. John's sister Susan went to New Zealand and other
family members went to the USA.
Any information on either ancesters or descendents would be greatly
appreciated.
Trish Cassidy
This is a repeat, but maybe new members will connect:
One of my distant cousin ancestors is Regina Cassidy (dau of Edward Francis)
born in WashDC in late 1880s or early 1890s, married a Dougherty (Docherty?
Dorrity?--he had something to do with typewriters?) and moved to Brooklyn NY.
Don't know what happened to her after that. She kept in touch with her first
cousin Edward Cassidy (my grandfather) who lived in Hoboken NJ.
Would love to hear from her descendants.
