We subscribed to this list last week. The CASSIDY ancestor is ELLEN
CASSIDAY who was married to JAMES MCATAGART - child Catherine born
1864 at DERRYLIN County Fermanagh. Other children: Philip, James- a
flute-player went to U.S., a third son was a poiceman IN DERRYGONALLY
name not known, there was a fourth son.
Philip's children include one who married a LANE. They lived in DERRYLIN.

Hi everyone,
Would everyone do me a favor? Would you please post the name and dates of
your (first) immigrant Cassidy/Cassiday, etc ancestor. If you know the date
of immigration and the place in Ireland where he/she originated, please
include that as specifically as possible. For instance, Co. Donegal, or even
better: Co, Donegal near Ballyshannon. (If you know only "Ireland" say that.)
I'd like to organize the info somehow, for future reference. Also it would be
interesting to see what parts of the ould sod our ancestors were from.
Thanks,
Janet

Well I cant remember if I posted this family or not!! I'm getting old.
Anyway I've been tracking this family because I find them in the 1900
Census living in the same building as my Gr Grandmother (Margaret Cassidy)
and her famaly. My Gr grandfather died in 1898 at the age of 48. My
assumption is that they are related to my Cassidys.
Lizzie (Elizabeth) Cassidy's maiden name is McAuley.

Hi Janet and all Cassidys:
Well on my mother's side is my Cassidy. William Cassidy was born in
Inver Donegeal County Ireland in 1797 and married Jane Mulligan in 1818 in
Gretna Green in Donegeal Ireland and came to St john Canada. They settled in
a places that is called Cassidy lake that is west of St Johns. William is my
G G Grandfather.
My Great grand father is Frances Edward Cassidy that was born in Sussex
.and my grandfather Frances Edward .
My mother also Janet or Jenny Cassidy was born in Medford Hillside
,Cambridge Mass. her mother was Euphemia Fouturne Burt. Unknown birthplace.
My Great grand mother is Jane Dunlop. Birthplaces unknown.
They have a book of the family history back to William and has all the
children and names and dates of the hole clan. I have to get a hold of my
cousin Peter Cassidy that lives in TENN. I will be going to Boston Mass. in
Sept and will be able to get his address from some of the cousin that are
still around there .
I have put up Web pages on Family Tree Makers and Family Origin. But
there under the name of Fred Lane or Frederick Lane. Or Frederick W. Lane.
You may be able to get some of the names off it. Some of the Info is wrong
as my son had entered it and wasn't sure of the info.
I can pass on a GEO file for FTM or Family Origin programs if needed.
I had lost all I had corrected and didn't have it back up to disk so I had to
reinstall my son's data.
If any of the members are connected to William from Inver . I will
pass on the data . There is no data other than William. No mother or father
or brothers or sisters.
Off hand I don't know how many records it has but a lot of names are
in it . The book is been up dated but I haven't received it yet. the one I
have is down to me.
Want to thank you for starting this Cassidy . page. I hope to meet
some of my cousins here . I have my data of my grand children back to both of
my sides of the families. So it may not help some of the Cassidy's.
My name is Frederick W.Lane or better known as Teddy . I was born in
Wellesley Mass. and now live in Lancaster PA. where my wife is from. hope
this is some help to some one. TEDDY

So here is another Cassidy family in Greenpoint Brooklyn (Ward 17 of Kings
county), though the 1850 Census is from New York City (Brooklyn still being
wonderful indepenent city at that time). I have been tracking them because
they arrive early to Greenpoint and my Cassidys come directly to
Greenpoint, Brooklyn with no apparent stop in New York City; a cousin, the
oldest in my family (86) tells a story that one Cassidy was arrested ffor
teaching Irish and whenhe got out the family started to emigrate -- this
probadly isnt true since teaching Irish wasnt illegal at the time but seems
to indicate some "criminal" problems. Also there are names in this family
that appear in my families. Anyway I've tracked this family from 1850 to
1925.
Also, Rosiana, Sarah and John do not marry; Maragret marries Philip McCaffrey.
They open up a grocery store (at the time grocer stores and liquor stores
were the same places) on Eckford and Calyer Streets.
