Maybe I can shed some light on this line.
Thomas Youngblood m Amy Hopkins in the 1700's and produced a son David who was born in
the late 1700's. David left public records in Edgefield Co. SC one of which named
Simeon as his son. Simeon married Milly Ann Castle/Cassel.
There is a lot of documentation of this couple among census record and land records. They
are buried in AL. Rick and Dina Youngblood who were in the Birmingham area in the early
2000's visited the grave site and this I learned in a face to face exchange.
The following information comes from "Early Settlers Along the Federal Road in Monroe
and Conecuh Counties Alabama" by Mary Brantley, published 1976, p 114.
"It is thought that the Youngblood family lived about two miles north of Burnt Corn.
There is a family cemetery (six or seven graves) about one hundred yards east of the old
Griffith place. There remains only one double marker. YOUNGBLOOD Samuel 1810-1868 Miley
1811-1881. Nearby in the Ramah Baptist Cemetery, there is one Youngblood marker: Mrs. B.
C., wife of A. J. Youngblood April 27, 1850 March 18, 1900."
Simeon and Milly had a daughter named Permelia Anne Youngblood, b 22 Feb 1835 who first
married a Moody and lived in TX. Moody died and she moved back to AL where she married
Tebaum Dreaden in 1867. One of Permelia Anne's children was Mary Magdalene Dreaden who
is my grandmother. Permelia Anne died on 18 Nov 1919 and she is buried in the Repton
Cemetery in Repton, Conecuh Co. AL as is Mary Magdalen Dreaden Black whose grave is only
marked by a small concrete wall surrounding the family plot with the only marking being a
capital B on each corner. I know this cemetery firsthand.
It might be helpful to refer to the 1850 US Census for
Benton Co. AL where you will find a daughter of Simeon and Milly who is called Melian in
the census record. The children's ages show she is actually Permelia Anne Youngblood.
Further, a son of Permelia Anne's, William Simeon Dreaden's Death Certificate
gives his mothers maiden name as Armelia A. Youngblood, born in Conecuh Co., AL.
I also believe that the David Youngblood of Edgefield SC is a separate person from the
David Youngblood in SE AL. They are close in age.
My information is sourced. I am also the proud owner of a quilt made by Permelia Anne
Youngblood Dreaden possibly in TX about 1860, but thought by my mother to have been made
in the 1870's and a photo portrait of her in later life.
Regards,
Bob Black
