Hi Amanda
Many thanks for replying - and I think I know exactly who and how you are connected to my
tree (sorry, our tree).
I have the "complete" Cassell Family Tree going right back to c.1740. You might
be interested to be in touch further - so please don't hesitate to be in direct
contact.
If you are who I think you are please give my regards to Len & Pamela and everyone
else too.
Best regards
George
p.s. Theophilus Cassell was born on 7th July 1839 in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire
and is now presumed to have died sometime between 1871 and 1879. In 1879, is
'widow' re-married and died in 1903 in Badsey, Worcestershire. I say that
Theophilus died between those dates lightly as I have yet to get his death certificate.
You might be interested to know that our common ancestor who was Reuben Castle/Cassell
(elder brother of Theophilus) died of laryngitis on 25th March 1887 just a few months
after his mother Priscilla Phillips (formerly Castle, nee Joiner), died following a
paralysis (stroke). They are buried at Brailes in Warwickshire, but there is no
headstone.
Reuben was one of about 11 children: 8 boys and 3 girls. Our earliest known ancestor was
John Castle and he was married to Mary (nee Edgington). They are both buried at
Chastleton in Oxfordshire and there is a headstone below the west window of the church.
Len's cousin, Gwen Strong works as a volunteer at Chastleton House which is next door
to the church. (Well worth a visit).
