I was born in 1939, so I only know of Houston. I saw him a few times but he was married to
Edna ?? and they had a few children. I remember one was named Regina. Don't remember
the other names as we moved to Ohio when I was eleven. Grandpa and Granny Cindy took in
Chick and finish raising him. He join the service (I believe the Army) during World War II
or was drafted.
He went though his stint in the service, came home for a visit and was accidently gas to
death in a motel in one of the Carolina's going back to service. I have been to his
grave many times as he is buried in Bethel with my grandfather and my second grandmother
Mattie. Mattie died about the time I was born from a heart attack. Then grandpa married
the third time to Cindy White. I don't know the date for sure. My real grandmother was
Amanda Pool and she was the mother of my Dad and Uncle Frank. Mom and Dad all ways said
both boys were Wyatt and that Uncle Frank and Aunt Bessie adopted Houston, but grandpa
just raised Chick as his own (not adopted). Some how Houston and Edna and their family
ended up by Marion or in Marion. My folks as long as they lived would visit Houston until
they died. Is your brother in law, James DeFriece. I seem to remember that name. Can't
think of the other names other than Regina who should be about my age I think. Since Chick
was with grandma Matt!
ie they must have taken the boys in late twenties or thirties. Houston was a grown man
and married when I first remember us running into him at Uncle Franks visiting in the
forties. Grandma Mattie's last name was Short and her maiden name was Smith. I would
try the county north of Washington County. I think Uncle Frank may have lived in another
county as well as Washington County. Uncle Frank is buried in Christy Chapel Cementery
Port Clinton, Ohio. He died 1 July 1964 here in Ohio. Aunt Bessie died in Florida and I
think she was brought back to Bristol and buried.
