Pat and all - Thanks for this information.
I will make an addendum - In the Dauphin Co, PA census of 1790, there
are no CASSELs or CASSELLs, but the following CASTLEs: Emmanuel,
Frederick, Jacob, two Johns, and Michael.
Considering that these given names are definitely those of some of the
known CASSELs, and that the census takers would have been English
speakers, and that the name has come to be often pronounced as CASTLE, I
believe that these are CASSELs too.

I am currently developing a web page for our lists to help others find us -
I'll let you know when that becomes available .. until then I thought I
would see what I could dig up for some census information to share ..
I have both IL and MO - Kassell - Cassell census information on line at:
http://www.alltel.net/kassell.html look in the drop down menus for Illinois
and Missouri - I will be adding additional information to that site as I
find it. I have the 1900 / 1910 / 1920 soundex copied and about 1/2 of the
way typed up to add to this information.
for those of you who are not related to IL or MO families - maybe this will
help you.
