This is my first posting to the list. I am researching Cassels in York
County, Pennsylvania. My gr-grandmother was Magdalena L. Cassel, born 1862
in York County, died 1922 in Reading. She married Jacob Brubaker
(1851-1925), also born in York County and died in Reading. (Jacob probably
was a widower at the time of their marriage, with at least one child, Emma.)
They had 14 children, seven of whom died very young and are buried in
Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Newberry Township, York Co. The other seven grew
to adulthood, and most of them moved to Reading as eventually did Magdalena
and Jacob. My grandfather, Erastus Jones Bierbrower/Bierbauer Brubaker
(1887-1952), is one of the children who survived to adulthood.
I am trying to establish the identity of Magdalena Cassel's parents,
siblings, grandparents, etc. There do not seem to have been many Cassels in
York County in the 18th and 19th centuries, so I would be grateful for any
information on any Cassels in York County before 1900.
Magdalena's family may have been members of the River Brethren, but I do not
know this for certain yet.
Thanks very much.
