I just bought the book "The Cassel Family in America. It describes the arrival
and family history of the Cassel/Kassel family from "Yillis (Yelles) Kassel (Cassel),
the famed mennonite preacher, particularly the arrival here of three grandsons, (brothers,
Hupert, and later, Johannes and Yelles. Most of the book is devoted to Hupert's line
and less than 40 pages to Johannes line. The book is available from The Mennonite
Heritage Society, Harleysville, PA.
The first of this family came over in 1686 but the main entry, the brothers was in
1715-1720 (Hupert) and several years later his two brothers arrived. They lived in
Germantown for a short while, then Johannes moved to Columbia, Lancaster County and Yelles
lived with his brother in Skippack or what was then known as Van Bebber Township. The
family was first influenced to come after hearing William Penn preach in Kreisheim in
1681. This first immigrant was Johannes , presumably the Johannes mentioned as hearing
Penn, and his wife and children, one of which was Arnold, 1670-?, whose 4th son would be
Nicholas, 11/11/1702-12/31/1759. Is this your Nicholas?

If you are still researching, I would like to discuss the Nicholas Cassell of
Wythe Co., Va with you. I believe he had brothers with him when he came to
Wythe Co. and their families are spread about in the counties of Patrick,
Carroll, and Wythe (all in Virginia).
