I am researching any and all Cassels in York County PA - there seem to have
been very few. What I originally posted to the list I am pasting in here:
My gr-grandmother was Magdalena L. Cassel, born 1862
in York County, died 1922 in Reading. She married Jacob Brubaker
(1851-1925), also born in York County and died in Reading. (Jacob probably
was a widower at the time of their marriage, with at least one child, Emma.)
They had 14 children, seven of whom died very young and are buried in
Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Newberry Township, York Co. The other seven grew
to adulthood, and most of them moved to Reading as eventually did Magdalena
and Jacob. My grandfather, Erastus Jones Bierbrower/Bierbauer Brubaker
(1887-1952), is one of the children who survived to adulthood.
I am trying to establish the identity of Magdalena Cassel's parents,
siblings, grandparents, etc. There do not seem to have been many Cassels in
York County in the 18th and 19th centuries, so I would be grateful for any
information on any Cassels in York County before 1900.
Magdalena's family may have been members of the River Brethren, but I do not
know this for certain yet.
That ends my original posting. Since then I have been able to establish
that Magdalena's parents were Jacob S. and Elizabeth Cassel.
I am moving from Minnesota back to Pennsylvania next week, and I am hoping
that this will mean easier and more research opportunities! I will send
additional information to the list re: my Cassels after we have moved, when
I have my new email address. I will be at this email address
helminsk(a)sparc.isl.net until the 13th of January.
Thanks very much.

With the new year, it might be a good time for all of us to review
what we
have and what we can share - I will continue to look in the greater St.
Louis, MO area for any and all Cassell and various spelling information to
add to my personal site Kassell Konnections. Today I spent a good amount
of
time posting more obits that I have collected to the rootsweb area
dedicated
to obits in hopes that others will find them.
I would encourage each of you to post what you know, in addition to
posting
your queries .. I have personally made some progress over the past
year on
my Cassell - Kassell families and hope that you all do as well.
Very best wishes, you list administrator - Pat
