I have done a bit of Research on the Cassel Line but recently I have hit a snag, I was
wonder if any one of you, whom has also done so, would you be able to help me fill in some
info.
I hit my snag when I realised the John Cassel (1832 - 1880) Born of Peter Cassel &
Martha Chitwood was not John Cassel Whom married Mary Summer, the census 1880 clarifies
it.
My John Cassel is born about 1845 in Indiana, both Parents from Kentucky.
My Line
John Cassel 1845-Ind & Mary Elizabeth Summers 1849 KY
William Grant Cassel (1870 - 1952)& Mary Elizabeth Dean( 1870 - 1956)
Ezra Basil Cassel (1896 - 1973)& Bertha Naomi Murphy (1902 - 1942)
Robert Harold Cassel (1923 - 1962) - Amanda Parrish
Now.. These two Boys are intertwined all over the place the fact are they are not the same
boys. So I am looking for a Kentucky Line Of Cassel Whom had a John Cassel around 1845.
Now, I was told by my father at a young age, that I could write my name as Cassell or
Cassel, Due to there being a family disagreement, a family member droped the l to make him
self different from the rest of the family.
One family member went to war, before he went to war he gave his parents a lot of money to
buy land and build a house, for when he came back, in the chance he died, it was theirs to
keep, but when he came back his parents keep the money and the house, So he changed his
name from Cassell to Cassel. I know both Ezra & Grant both went to War, WW1 & WW2,
Ezra went to both.
If any one know more who can help me, it would be much appreciated.
Who are John's parents?
Ancestry.com give names that don't match up at all. The
dates are wrong. Does any one know?
