Nellie Cassady
GLADE SPRING--Mrs. Nellie Cassady, 75, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her residence.
She had lived most of her life in Russell and Washington counties and was a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James P. and Margaret Reynolds Casey, and a
grandson, Brian Slate.
Survivors include her husband, Warren "Hoppie" Cassady of Glade Spring; sons,
David Bradley Kirk Sr. and wife, Debra Kay, of Bristol, Va., Timothy L. Cassady and wife,
Bo, of Glade Spring; daughters, Margaret Ann Slate and husband, Donald, of Vandalia, Ohio,
Bobbie Jean Fleenor and husband, Charlie, of Bristol, Tenn., and Elizabeth Sue Singleton
and husband, Randy, of Abingdon; brothers, Samuel Casey of Unicoi, Tenn., Rufus Casey of
Bristol, Tenn., and Billy Casey and Charlie Casey, both of Abingdon; sisters, Edith
Ferguson of Bristol, Tenn., Irene Dye, Betty Lovell, Lois Gill, and Ruthie Price, all of
Bristol, Va., Ella Mae Cox of New Jersey, Ruby Honeycutt of North Carolina, Linda Casey of
Bristol, Tenn., Brenda Casey of Abingdon and Carol Shephard of Konnarock; 12
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a special little
one, David Wayne "Bubba" Prater.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at 1 p.m. in Farris Funeral
Chapel with Rev. Don Watkins and Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Interment will follow
in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Slate, Scott Slate, Danny Gill, Tom McCracken, Chip Burroughs and
Charlie Fleenor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Doug Green, Don Slate and Mrs.
Cassady's brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation,

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Farris Funeral Service, Abingdon, is serving the Cassady family.
