Charles "Charlie" Cassady
NEWARK:
Mr. Charles Cassady, age 91, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2013 at
Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio.
He was born March 27, 1922 in Inez, Kentucky to parents Jasper and Belva (Cline) Cassady.
Charlie served with the U.S. Air Force during WWII during which time he piloted heavy
bombers such as the B-17, B-25 and B-29. He enjoyed a successful career as an automobile
dealer, franchiser, manager and owner.
He was a member of Christian Endeavor U.M. Church, Center Star #11 F&AM, the
Maennerchor and the Martin County Social and Community Group and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Charlie will be remember by his friends and family as someone willing to give of himself
by helping others in need.
The hobby he enjoyed most was gardening and maintained a garden plot in Granville, Ohio.
He also researched and wrote a book about Martin County, Kentucky.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Ludmila "Ludy" Cassady; daughter Connie
(Jim) Nunamaker of Miamisburg, Ohio; granddaughter Tammy Collins; great grandchildren
Conner, Cody, Cory and Cameron Collins and Kyra Dickerson as well as many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
In addition to his parents; sisters Lillian, Pauline, Mary, Christine and Vona Dean;
brothers Malcolm, Junior and Jack; granddaughter Joanne Cassady preceded Charles in
death.
Calling hours for Charles "Charlie" E. Cassady will be from 4:00 - 6:30 P.M.
Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark.
Services, including Masonic Service, military honors rendered by the Licking County
Veterans Alliance & Patriot Guard and a Christian service by Pastor Jeff Perry will be
held from 6:30 until 8 P.M. Wednesday.
Additional services will also be held at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, 278 W. Main
Street, Inez, Kentucky. Calling hours in Inez will be held Thursday from 6-8 P.M.
A graveside service will take place at the Cassady Cemetery in Inez 11:00 A.M. Friday.
