The rumor of Sarah's death you mentioned is new to me. The only information I have
concerning her death is from an article in "History of Northern Kansas" about my
great grandparents, Michael & Elizabeth Cassidy Schmitt. [Cassidy, article spelling] ~
In part it states; "The later [referring to Henry] was killed while serving in the
Confederate army in Georgia. His wife [Sarah] also died in GA." ~ ~~ Next subject;
Elizabeth traveled to Missouri with her grandparents, Adam and Anna Hise Caseday. From
there she went to Kansas with the Massa family. Her sister, Margaret, married in MO,
brother Adam went to Oregon. The grandparents settled in Clackamas CO Oregon, all of their
children also removed to Oregon.
About James Henry; Descendants of his siblings that I have met only know that he was
killed in the Civil war.
I'm getting some help from a civil war buff, he is searching grave and war records in
the area of Morris Island where I believe he was killed.
Hope I have answered your questions.
Some of our brick wall lies with the family being missed in the 1860 Dade County GA. That
may have shed some light!!
Bette
