Someone just sent me James Henry Cassady's gravesite; it's spelled Cassady on the
tombstone but Find-A-Grave has it under Cassidy.
It's located in Nashville National Cemetery, Plot B 6494, and you're right he died
during the Civil War.
I'm trying to find out what happened to his wife Sarah M D Nelson Cassady. At first I
thought I'd found her on a Tenn 1870 census, but maybe I'm wrong if she died
during the war, I didn't know that - I also didn't know they relocated to
Georgia.
I can't find Sarah or her children on any census. Where did you find the information
her children were listed as orphans? Though I've also read they can be listed that way
(in bygone eras) even if only the father died.
But I can't find Sarah Nelson Cassady or her children anywhere; Cassady is spelled so
many different ways on the census records, so that doesn't help. Have you found out
anything about her or the children since?
Sarah was my 2nd great aunt.
Thanks for any help in locating this family.
