Carolyn, I find it hard to believe that those Bertie County Caspers are
not somehow connected to the Rowan County Caspers, but my knowledge of
Caspers in general is very spotty. In re your desire to know more about
Peter Caspers family...there were a multitude of Peter Caspers who were
descended from the Conrad who moved to Rowan County about 1775. I
thought I had pegged one Peter Casper family as being one that moved to
Union County IL in the early 1800's because some gravestones in the
Mt.Pisgah Lutheran Cemetery there seemed to match a Peter Casper's family
I had found on the internet in names and dates, but when I mentioned it
to an acquaintance, she said that couldn't be, because she is descended
from that Peter Casper. The Peter I'm talking about was married to
Catherine Frick, and one of the graves was Catherine Casper who was the
same age as Catherine Frick. Another grave in that proximity, by the
way, was Wiley Casper who was apparently killed in the Civil War on the
Northern side. The above mentioned Peter Casper did not have a Wiley,
but did have a William. He also had a Simeon, another of the graves in
that cemetery. I came across all that while looking for the parents of
Julian Casper who married Rufus Miller. They were both from Rowan
County, and Julian's grave was near Catherine Casper's grave. You see
the problem! The acquaintance mentioned above is Pat Beck,
pbbecksalisburync@cbil... (my address book doesn't show the last part,
but you will find her in the Casper forum of GenForum).
Let me know if you come across something interesting.
